摘要

A new ester-containing biodegradable quaternary ammonium salt N-(2-stearyloyloxyethyl) hexadecyldimethyl ammonium bromide was successfully synthesized by a novel route, which could be described as quaternization of N,N-dimethyl ethanolamine (DMEA) first, then esterification by long-chain stearyl chloride. The optimum synthesis conditions for the intermediate product N-hydroxyethyl hexadecyldimethyl ammonium bromide were found as mixing the reactants 1-bromohexadecane and DMEA with molar ratio of 1.2 at about 358K for 5h. The termination product N-(2-stearyloyloxyethyl) hexadecyldimethyl ammonium bromide was successfully synthesized, and the structure of the quaternary product was measured using IR, MS and ~1H NMR.
