摘要

Design and quality of Refractory play a vital role to enhance blast furnace campaign life and reduce cost. The modem refractories must display superior properties with respect to high corrosion resistance and adequate thermo-mechanical properties under increasing severe service condition and enhanced productivity. Development and use of carbon ,micro-pore carbon and super micro-pore carbon over conventional Alumina refractory have extend campaign life to a great extent. In bosh, bally and stack, Si3N4 bonded and SAILON bonded SiC refractory over alumina refractory are in use. This paper deals with the refractory practice , its wear in blast furnace and recent developments in design and quality of refractories taken place in Tata Steel, with a reference to refractory practice in H blastfurnace.
