摘要

The alkyl 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,4-methanonaphthalenes (THMNs) are proposed as model compounds for studying the influence of molecular shape on reorientational dynamics in liquids. They possess a rigid molecular frame to which different alkyl chains are attached, The synthesis of several alkyl THMNs is described, and the rotational motions of specific C-13-H-1 vectors have been evaluated by the measurement of C-13 relaxation data. The results for the differently-substituted THMNs were compared to each other, The velocity of the reorientational motions could be related to the molecular shape. [References: 40]
