Evaluating and Treating Disabled or Impaired Colleagues

Back in September 1999,1 wrote a column about recognizing and dealing with impaired physicians.1 This month, I'd like to talk about the processes and procedures associated with evaluating colleagues (we'll use physicians as the primary example) for such things as psychiatric disability and impairments that can affect their ability to practice safely and competently.
