摘要

How to avoid unintended and untoward drug-drug interactions (DDIs) has been a recurring theme in this column. Numerous past columns have used real-life case examples to illustrate the varied way that DDIs can present clinically.Past columns have also focused on pharmacokinetic DDIs, particularly those mediated by cytochrome P450 enzymes. This column presents a method of classifying neuropsychiatric medications by mechanism of action to permit rational prediction of pharmacodynamically mediated DDIs.
