Pleurotus eryngii locally known as Kabul dhingri is grown in India and is gaining importance in Rajasthan. Mushroom cultivation needs to be popularized to over come the protein malnutrition. Cultural and cultivation studies revealed that P. eryngiishowed a maximum mycelial growth at 20 +-1C, 6.0 pH and light intensity of 138 lux. Spawn rate of 3 and 3.5 per cent were found significantly better for achieving maximum spawn run and sporophore production. A substrate weight of 3 or 4 kg gave maximum spawn run and fruit body production. Four different methods of spawning viz, thorough maxing, three layering, two layering and top dressing were tested. The three layer of spawning in between substrate gave maximum yield and biological efficiency of P. eryngii.
