摘要

Zirconia based ceramics are one of the most widely used functional materials. Their performance is greatly improved if a proper amount of cubic-symmetrical oxide is added. The oxides tested, such as CaO, MgO, Y2O3 or CeO2, are usually called stabilizers or dopants. Using these oxides, three kinds of zirconia based ceramics can be obtained as fully stabilized zirconia (FSZ), partially stabilized zirconia (PSZ) and tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (TZP) [1-3]. These materials have found applications in the fields of oxygen sensors, fuel cells, oxygen pumps, high temperature heating cells in oxidation atmospheres, ceramic engines and components, catalysts, etc. [4, 5].
