PURPOSE: Provided is a preparation method of zirconia and yttria stabilized zirconia(YSZ) powder using a continuous hydrothermal reactor which enables the feeding of raw materials, reacting and discharging as a chain of processes. Therefore, the method shortens the processes and produces ZrO2 and YSZ powder in a large quantity. CONSTITUTION: The zirconia(ZrO2) and yttria stabilized zirconia(YSZ) powder using a continuous hydrothermal reactor is prepared by the following steps of: feeding raw materials, such as ZrOCl28H2O, and ZrOCl28H2O and YCl6H2O for ZrO2 and YSZ powder, respectively, and KOH into double-structured reaction chambers resistant to corrosion, high temperature and high pressure; heating and stirring a mixture(S2); hydrothermal reacting at 150-200deg.C(S3), wherein the reaction chambers are heated with hot oil, the temperatures of the reactants and hot oil are detected, and overheated oil is cooled with cold water; reacting unreacted material again(S4); discharging formed materials from the reaction chamber(S5); filtering(S6); and washing(S7). The prepared ZrO2 and YSZ powder have 30-50nanometer size and more than 99.99% of purity.
