Variable rates of primary and secondary metabolites during different seasons and physiological stages in Datura metel L.

摘要

In the present investigation attempts have been made to investigate the rate of plant metabolism during different seasons and physiological stages in Datura merel L. Leaf pigments, proline, protein content, alkaloids and phenols worked out during summer, monsoon and winter season showed variable rates of synthesis. Proline and protein content were maximum in summer season. Leaf pigments, alkaloids and phenols were higher in monsoon during flowering stage. Alkaloid and phenol content was found insignificant in seedling stage.
