摘要

Peptides are compounds that contain amino acids (alpha-amino-carboxylic acids) linked by amide (peptide) bonds. Nature has designed peptides to stimulate, inhibit or regulate many body functions. In recent decade, there has been an exponential growth in the development of radiolabeled peptides for diagnostic and therapeutic applications in nuclear oncology. Peptides have some favorable characteristics: fast clearance, rapid tissue penetration, low antigenicity and can be readily inexpensively synthesized. In addition peptides can withstand harsher chemical conditions for modifications and radiolabel-ing. Thus, radiolabeled peptides offer the possibility of a wide array of compounds for variety of applications in diagnostic and therapeutic medicine.
