Transition metal (iron, cobalt, and chromium) substituted Hexagonal Mesoporous Aluminophosphate (HMA), and A1PO_4-5 were studied for the oxidative desulfurization (ODS) reaction of refractory sulfur compounds such as DBT (dibenzothiophene) and 4,6-DMDBT (4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene). Selective oxidation activity varies with the kind of transition metal employed. The ODS activity of HMA substituted catalyst follows the order: CrHMA CoHMA > FeHMA. Comparison between HMA and A1PO-5, CrHMA catalyst shows better performance than Cr-A1PO_4-5 catalyst when tert-butyl hydroperoxide is used as oxidizing agent.
