Benefits of plastic roll tape coverslips may include increased production relative to manual coverslipping and reduced xylene exposure hazards. However, with time plastic coverslips often detach, taking tissue sections with them and leaving behind drawers of blank slides and loose coverslips. Each lost slide may create a medicolegal risk or further deplete a teaching slide collection. Herein, we describe a technique to salvage detached or detaching slides. As a caveat, all procedures described herein should be performed under standard laboratory safety parameters and guidelines.
