Effect of dates of sowing on incidence of whitefly, Bemisia tabaci on cotton

An experiment was conducted on cotton with six dates of sowing during kharif seasons of 2001 and 2002 at Agricultural Research Station, Sriganganagar to study the effect of sowing dates on incidence of whitefly, Bemisia tabaci. The results revealed that whitefly population remained very low upto last week of July and thereafter increased gradually and reached its peak in the month of September and then declined irrespective of sowing date. The population was recorded higher in late sown as compared to early sown crop throughout the season.
