Appliances such as the Pendulum, transpalatal arches, and removable Nance arches often require double-back wire bends for insertion into the lingual sheaths of molar bands. Bending a double-back wire without a special plier is difficult, since the wire sections tend to move out of parallel alignment when force is applied. Here is a simple modification to a universal plier that can be used to produce double-back bends with parallel arms.
