摘要

The effort is ongoing to evaluate the effectiveness of hospital-based fall prevention interventions (National Quality Forum 2010). A recent study conducted by Tzeng and Yin (2013) in adult acute inpatient care settings found that nursing staffs' perceptions about the most frequently adopted and most effective interventions were mostly inconsistent. Such inconsistencies could be due to staff being unable to recognise the importance of some fall prevention interventions and patients' risk factors for acquiring fall-related injuries (Tzeng & Yin 2013). This study's findings raised the urgency to identify the optimal approach related to staff education to prevent fall injuries. This qualitative study used the data collected as part of a multihospital, cross-sectional, registered nurse (RN) staff survey to identify the most and least helpful aspects of staff education to prevent injurious falls.
