A facile synthesis of ionic liquid-supported iodosylbenzenes

A synthesis of two ionic liquid-supported iodosylbenzenes, 1-(4-iodosylbenzyl)pyridinium tetrafluoroborate and 1-(4-iodosylbenzyl)-3- methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, which are potentially useful oxidising agents in organic synthesis is reported. Both compounds are stable, active, and easy to handle. The chemical structures of both compounds were characterised by ~1H NMR, ~(13)C NMR, IR, MS and elemental analysis.
