Numerous examples of how the chemical content of com-ics (1-6), novels (7-16), and movies (11b, 17-22) can be usedto provide added interest to chemistry courses at various levelshave been published in this Journal and elsewhere. The use ofmusic for similar purposes has also been described to a lesserextent (23-29), in most cases showing how instructors andtheir students have set new, chemistry-related lyrics to familiarmelodies. The latter, and those chemistry-related musical itemswritten and recorded specifically for educational purposes (30,31), are not considered in this paper.
