This history series is a reprint, The original series was written in 1992. Since that time Mike Christopherson, then president of General Pump, has passed away. As pointed out in an earlier part of this history series, it was the introduction of the Cat Pump in 1968 that really boosted the pressure washer industry into its introductory growth phase. The new Cat piston pump not only increased the pressure ratings available, it increased the longevity of pressure washers as a whole, which opened the market.
