We appreciate the opportunity to address the afore-mentioned Letter to the Editor regarding our manuscript,"The effects of Tomatis sound therapy on language inchildren with autism." The authors acknowledge the lim-itations raised by cross-over designs. As an investigatorone makes choices based on the aims, hypotheses, as wellas practical issues prior to initiating a study. Since we wereinvestigating a treatment with extremely limited and biasedfindings, a double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-overinvestigation was chosen. Furthermore, the study wasspecifically designed to evaluate the efficacy of Tomatistherapy on the receptive and expressive language func-tioning in children with autism since proponents of themethod claim measurable benefits in these fundamentalskills. Additional analyses evaluating other domains offunction, using our design and statistical methods, resultedin comparable negative findings.
