摘要

Car exhaust emission and urban air quality measurements of aerosol particles need to be determined in detail to understand the influence of car emissions on the environment.The toxicological potential can only be estimated knowing size-resolved physical and chemical properties of the volatile and nonvolatile particle material.Number size distribution,mixing state,inorganic and elemental/organic carbon composition of the aerosol are therefore essential parameters.Number size distributions were measured behind a Diesel engine using fuel with high and low sulphur content.In a long-term study,the environmental aerosol has been investigated at three measurement sites.The site can be classified as:a) a street canyon,b) urban background,and c) rural.Goal of the project was to determine the distribution of elemental and organic carbon in the atmosphere as function of nearby car emissions.
