At recent auto shows, automobile manufacturers have been unveiling a number of cars that make extensive use of aluminum components. From this year's ultra-luxury Cadillac Sixteen concept car to the aluminum-bodied Jaguar XJ that will begin selling this spring, aluminum is playing an increased role in the automotive industry. Concept cars introduced at previous years' auto shows are now making their way into production as well. Ford plans to steel a limited number of its GT sports cars this year, while the Morgan Aero 8 aluminum-bodied sports car will be introduced to American markets in 2004. Top aluminum-producing companies Alcan and Alcoa have played key roles in the development of many of these new vehicles.
