Porphyrins are macrocyclic molecules present as parts of the prosthetic groups of some enzymes involved in the regulation of vital physiological processes(iron metabolism,electron transport in the respiratory chain,and so on).The ability of porphyrins to be mainly accumulated in cells that have undergone a malignant transformation accounts for the use of these compounds and their derivatives for targeted drug delivery to tumors.The value of porphyrins as anti-tumor agents is underlain by their ability to generate singlet oxygen under the action of ionizing radiation,
