摘要

Scientists from the British Antarctic Survey are using a new slimmer ice-drill to look further into the past of the earth's climate than ever before. The drill is being driven by a motor that has to withstand extreme conditions at depths of up to 3km. Scientists at British Antarctic Survey (BAS) are trying to discover how the climate has changed over many thousands of years by drilling holes in one of the most untouched landscapes on the planet.
