The Spectral Method and the Central Limit Theorem for General Markov Chains

The central limit theorem is stated for nonuniformly ergodic Markov chains with an arbitrary phase space. The brief description of the modification of the spectral method is given which is used in the proof of this theorem. Previously the spectral method was being applied only to uniformly ergodic Markov chains.
