In 2011/12, Bendigo Mining plans to open a second North mine to add another 400,000 ounces of annual gold production, lifting total output to around 600,000 ounces, generating new wealth for the Bendigo region and the entire State of Victoria. The latest estimates suggest that the Bendigo project will cost a total of 375 million Australia dollars, with a capital cost estimate of 128 million Australia dollars for the South mine and 247 million Australia dollars for the North mine. By the end of the March quarter, construction of the ore processing plant at the Kangaroo Flat mine was 83 per cent complete and remained on track for commissioning in the June quarter.
