A recent study highlighting the hazards of daily sitting propagated widespread media attention. The news wasn't really new, however. Previous studies had already indicated both that total hours sitting were a potential peril and that reducing them was a potential boon. Along with reaffirming what we already had cause to know, the newer study purportedly added some precision to the estimates of risk. But this editorial isn't about that study, nor the hazards of sitting. It's about the danger to our children of a culture-wide proclivity to look right past them.
