As part of an effort to reduce fuel consumption and vehicle emissions in on-highway trucks, Mercedes-Benz has developed the Aero trailer as part of a design study under its Truck and Trailer 7plus initiative. Using specially engineered aerodynamic features, the Aero trailer, when equipped with trucks such as Mercedes-Benz's Actros model, is designed to decrease wind resistance by 18% and reduce fuel consumption by 5%.
