BMI View: There have been some modest changes to our Americas Petrochemicals Risk/Reward Ratings this quarter. The average Country Risk score has fallen 0.4 points, pushing down the overall regional Risk score by 0.3 points and in doing so nudging the average Petrochemicals score down 0.1 points. However, within the ratings table there is a clear divergence in scores due to different governmental attitudes towards state intervention. Only countries with liberal investment regimes-combined with solid domestic feedstock resources-will see their ratings hold up, even though they will come under pressure in the short term.
