EPA Proposes Strict Limits on GHG Emissions for Coal Plants

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed strict limits on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from new power plants, smartplanet.com reported. The regulations will effectively ban coal-fired power plants using older technology. The proposals would effect new power plants only. The rules would apply to conventional coal boilers, integrated gasifi- cation combined cycle units and natural gas combined cycle turbines generating more than 25 MW of electricity.
