Dear Reader, In the last two weeks, the industry has witnessed the world's two most populous nations aggressively sign 20-year long-term supply contracts sourced in Australia. First, Petronet, India's largest gas importer, signed a 20-year long term contract with ExxonMobil for 1.5 million mt/y from the Gorgon venture. This is India's first supply deal sourced from Australia. After signing the deal, reportedly worth $20.5 billion, Petronet officials indicated an interest in pursing additional supply agreements tied to Gorgon. Additionally, Petronet says it is eyeing an equity stake in Interoil's PNG LNG project in Papua New Guinea. Interoil is looking to sell a 20%-35% stake in the project.
