With the ever-increasing focus on energy efficiency in all facets of power transmission and control, there is a huge opportunity to take all the good things that fluid power brings to the table with the ease of the transmission and control of power, and accentuate it with higher efficiency. In previous articles, I've discussed the distribution of fluid power from the pump to the load and how this can be done more efficiently by minimizing throttling losses-closed-loop circuits being the most efficient since there are no throttling losses in the main circuit.
