Calves tend to be tucked away in any redundant farm building that can house them. However,with up to 2,300 babies to rear in the next three years, Cogent's Grange Farm has erected a welfare friendly calf house to take it into the 21st century. Built as part of a model farm in the late 19th century, the brick shippons at Grange Farm, Aldford in Cheshire have many intriguing features such as prism glass to increase internal light levels.
