Shareholders of the companies planning to create Canada's second largest oil and gas producer endorsed a proposal to merge in separate votes in Calgary yesterday, although the mood was more subdued at the Petro-Canada event as it marked the end of an era for a company launched in the political-charged energy atmosphere of the 1970s.
