Commercial dairy diary: Oklahoma Couple Finds Ready Market for Fresh Goat Milk and Goat Milk Cheese

Canyon Ridge Farms is part of a dream that my husband, Chrys, and I have had for many years. We were both raised on small farms and I raised dairy goats in high school as part of my FFA project. After purchasing our small farm in 2002, dairy goats were the first livestock that became a part of our farm family. Over the years we have increased the herd size several times with the hopes of having a co-op purchase our milk only to watch our dreams crash. Two different entities would gladly buy our milk,but the conditions and prices that they would pay clearly showed an immediate and substantial loss for us, the producer. So, with heavy hearts, each time we would sell the herd back down to a number that was sufficient for our family's needs and the small raw milk market that we had.
