摘要

Growing up in Los Angeles, I spent a lot of time at Disneyland. From the beginning, my favorite of the domestic was the House of Tomorrow, where its designers shared their vision of the domestic future. The things in this house were amazing. Thehouse responded to voice commands. The telephone transmitted the speakers' imagines to one another. It even had a computer. Of course, at that time, most people didn't even know what a computer was. As a kid of the 1950s, I was awestruck by the gadgetsincorporated into his house. I was sure that I would someday own a home just like it. So I was very sad when, after 10 years, my wonderful House of Tomorrow was replaced with the America the Beautiful display. Aithough I really enjoyed America theBeautiful, it is all about looking back to the past. The House of Tomorrow was about imaging the future. And I've always been more interested in the future than the past.
