The article, "Optimize surge vessel control" (May 2002) describes in detail the different level controller types and their response. The steady level control and flow control definitely improve plant per-formance and stability. Level control simulation was carried out with different flow variation techniques. The simulation and real plant operation may not match the individual control method, as there will be continuous (it may be minor) upstream flow variation.
