Like many of the neighboring towns, the appearance of our small New Hampshire village has changed very little since its founding in 1772. Gracious old houses line the main street. A pristine New England Meeting House with its accompanying antique Burying Ground dominates the upper end of town. Across from it stands another dignified white structure, the former Francestown Academy building. Between these landmarks is a small remnant of the village green on which stands an odd granite object, locally known as the horse trough.
