Both Presidential candidates are beginning to spotlight their HEP views on innovation and science/technology issues, and to make campaign promises - some general, some more specific. The American Association for the Advancement of Science has set up a Web site carrying news of developments (http:// election2008.aaas.org).In answering 14 questions on competitiveness, energy, health, education, water, space, and IT put forward by the ScienceDebate organization (www.sciencedebate2008.com), the two candidates both pledge their support for spotlighting science and engineering. He weaves strong support for STEM education through most of his responses.
