The TUC has set out its view on best practice for well-being schemes. Although aimed at unions, employers may also find it useful. The guide says a focus on well-being is to be welcomed if it is a positive approach to developing 'good work' that takes account of health and well-being. However, the TUC says that unions should watch for schemes being used as an alternative to taking action to deal with underlying causes of well-being issues in the workplace. In addition, employers may try and keep trade unions out of well-being initiatives because they, wrongly, consider them not to be health and safety issues.
