THE HSE's confidence that local authorities in England are safely managing asbestos in their "system built" schools is misplaced, according to the National Union of Teachers (NUT). The union, which is calling for an independent national audit of all schools, raised its concerns after the HSE published survey results suggesting that three-quarters of English councils responsible for education provision are meeting their asbestos duties in system built premises.
