摘要

A WALL COLLAPSE that sent shards of glass flying into a school classroom has cost a construction company 7607 pounds in fines and costs. The accident happened at St Winifred's Catholic Primary School in south Wirral in December 2006 as workers from Clegg Building were taking down a section of an incorrectly built wall, which was part of a new classroom. The wall collapsed into a 2m-high section of steel mesh perimeter fencing, which then struck the cloakroom area of an occupied classroom, smashing the window and showering slivers of glass into the room. Fortunately, the teacher, her assistant and her 26 pupils escaped injury because they were in the middle of the room.
