Welcome to the forty-sixth Annual NCRP Meeting.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. It is with great pleasure that I present the opening remarks at this 46* Annual Meeting of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements. The topic of this year's meeting, Communication of Radiation Benefits and Risks in Decision Making, is very timely and a subject of great interest.I would like to begin by welcoming the past and current members of Council and the representatives of Council's Collaborating Organizations and Special Liaison Organizations. I also welcome the representatives of federal and state government agencies, many scientific societies, corporate sponsors, and individual contributors who provide valuable support to the NCRP. The organizations that provided financial support for NCRP's activities in 2009 are listed on the last page of the Program Book for this meeting. A special welcome is also extended to the international participants and registrants at this year's meeting. I extend a welcome on behalf of NCRP to all others who are here because of their strong interest in the work of the Council.
