Honda has a reputation for aggressively supporting the world's toughest "green" automotive mandates at U.S. EPA - often making Honda an exceptional ally among environmentalists and regulators.But in a recent presentation this fall to U.S. EPA's prestigious mobile source technical review subcommittee, Honda senior environmental & energy affairs manager David Raney shows that plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) - touted by a growing chorus of "greens" as the most promising solution to vehicle pollution, CO2 and oil dependency problems - aren't even close to being practical.
