BACKGROUND Pericardial suture ligation of the left atrial appendage (LAA) may be an alternative to endoluminal devices for stroke prevention in patients with atrialfibrillation, but multicenter safety and efficacy data in high-risk patients with contraindications to oral anticoagulation are lacking.
