World Pumps asked Claudio Materazzi, Chairman of the company about the sectors it addresses and the rationale behind the company's recently launched liquid CO_2 re-injection pump, designed to remove oil from depleted fields. For GE Oil and Gas, a major objective is to emphasise that it is not simply a major manufacturer in the rotating equipment sector, but is also a dedicated entity in the global pumping business. 'High technology' is the common denominator for the company, which is 'very serious about being a key player in the sector'. The company's strategy addresses this arena with a complete line of pumps, the main focus being in high technology applications. The range includes mainline, water injection, reactor feed, hydro cranking and hydro cracking process pumps, plus boiler feed water and water injection pumps. The types include overhung single-stage, horizontal between bearings, horizontal multi-stage and vertical pumps, with designs including single or multistage, horizontally or radially-split and single or double case types, as well as large gas turbocompressors.
