Training is the key to revival for the Nigerian poultry industry

The Nigeria seeming moribund poultry industry is set for a higher pedestal judging from the concerted efforts aimed at its revival. Towards this direction, various interest groups have organised symposia, workshops, farm visits and even paid courtesy calls to top government officials and policy makers. The difference between profit and loss in layer operations can be altered by a variety of factors. A slight drop in production can cause a fundamental change in the profitability of your business. Sustaining birds at peak performance is therefore paramount, more so that there is a limit to which prices can be adjudged upwards. Your profitability is thus enhanced by the ways you can cut down your production costs. Two agriculture consultants (MessrsGanob and Associates and Omni Agrik) tackled these issues at a recently organised poultry workshop in Nigeria. The workshop drew the cream of Nigerian poultry farmers, especially those that are based in Kaduna and its environs. The workshop was rated asan eye opener and the best organized in the recent years.
