Titanium dioxide (TiO2) has been recognised as one of the most effective metal oxide materials due to its high photo-catalytic efficiency, photochemical stability, non-toxic nature, and low cost. Nano-structured TiO2 materials with different shapes, including nanoparticles (NPs), nanotubes, nanowires, nanorods and thin films, have been synthesised by various specially tailored methods, including hydrothermal synthesis, metal-organic chemical vapour deposition, and sol-gel template methods.
