摘要

Claystones and bentonites are currently being investigated as potential host rock and geotechnicalbarrier, respectively, for radioactive waste disposal. For this application hydraulic conductivity, swellingproperties, water uptake, rheological and mechanical properties are important. The most studied claysare the Opalinus Clay (Switzerland) and Callovo-Oxfordian clay stone (France). One of the goals is todevelop a model being able to predict mechanical behaviour of clays under repository-like conditions.
