Trinidad Reopens Jamaica LNG Talks

Trinidad and Tobago has reopened the door to potential LNG exports to Caribbean neighbor Jamaica following talks over the past month. The move comes as both countries rethink their energy options. Trinidad now hopes to have gas to spare after embarking on fresh efforts to prove up more reserves, including the award of three production sharing contracts (PSCs) in May. Jamaica has meanwhile retendered a contract to build its first LNG import facility, almost a year after canceling the original award for a 1.2 million ton per year (159 million cubic foot per day) floating unit after ruling that the award process lacked transparency.
