Uncertainties over price and demand have brought the signing of new long-term LNG contracts to a halt. Still, with oil-indexed LNG now more competitive than LNG price-linked to the US Henry Hub gas benchmark, it's clear oil indexation is regaining favor among buyers, which will be looking to incorporate oil-based or hybrid formulas in new deals. But what's also clear is that oil slopes are falling amid the increasingly grim outlook.
